Ausha De Silva is a specialist Gynaecologist and Obstetrician.
Upon graduating from medical school, Ausha completed his Internship in
General Surgery and General Medicine in the beautiful East Anglia region of
England. He then embarked on specialist training in Gynaecology and
Obstetrics in the Northwest of England. Ausha was admitted to the
Membership of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist, UK in
2010. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) by the
General Medical Council (GMC), in 2014 and was placed in the specialist
register in the UK. Ausha also holds a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual
and Reproductive Health, UK.
Ausha served as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician for the
National Health Service (NHS), UK until he moved to New Zealand on a
permanent basis in January 2018 with his family.
Ausha was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New
Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2018. He was also
granted the Vocational Scope for practice in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
by the Medical Council of New Zealand in the same year.
Ausha is currently a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) at Hutt Valley District
Health Board. He is also the Clinical Lead for Gynaecology. During his
service in the UK, he was the Clinical Lead in Laparoscopy and also
Outpatient Hysteroscopy.
At present, Ausha consults patients privately at Boulcott Hospital and
Specialist Centre, Lower Hutt.
Ausha is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago. He has also served as
an Honourary Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen, UK in the past. He
has also taught postgraduate students in Gynaecology and Obstetrics at
international educational events on behalf of the RCOG, UK.
Outside work, Ausha is a keen amateur wildlife photographer and also a
fitness and nutrition enthusiast.
